Okay High Tyto Soren, I didn't expect everyone to know what a Laughing Owl is. They went extinct around 1914 Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad and haven't been seen ever since. They were really cute owls (judging by the picture) and now I am obsessed with them. I am creating a "Save Owls" website and plan to talk a lot about the Laughing Owl. Another owl that was thought to be extinct but was rediscovered was the Seychelles Scops Owl.

For complete info on the Laughing owl go to:

www.owlpages.com/owls.php?genus=Sceloglaux&species=albifacies

For info (maybe not the most complete) on the Seychelles Scops Owl go to

www.mikeduggan.tripod.com/species/seychellesscops.html

Hope these websites help you and anyone else as they helped me. Smile

I love all owls and I think it would be hard to pick a favourite-even out of 2! Both the laughing owl and the great horned owl are beautiful creatures and it is so sad that the laughing owl is extint. Did the laughing owl live in New Zealand? I'm pretty sure I saw a thing at the local zoo that says they did, you seem like an expert, let me know. Smile

There have been rumors that the Laughing Owl still exist in New Zealand, but it has never confirmed. I think we had a discussion of this previously on this forum. You might want to search the forum for "laughing owl"

I like laughing owls better because I have never seen a live GHO. I knew a bit about laughing owls. Very sad that they are extinct, I hope you can convince everyone to help save owls.
Boobooks are my favourite though Very Happy
