it starts with the male. First the male owl cries his mating call, and hopefully, a female will call back. If the female calls back, the male usaually brings the female owl a mouse, or a wedding gift. Surprised The female owl usually says yes and get to mating. After many tries, the female lays her eggs. Cool Barn owls can lay up to 11 eggs at a time, but they normally have 3-6.Every egg is born two or three days apart, depending on which was laid first. After she spots them, she incubates them, or sits on them for the owlets warmth. The brood, or mother, tucks the eggs into her brood spot (a featherless area on her breast ) to keep them safe and warm. Very Happy Every 20 minutes or so, the brood shuffles the eggs around so they all get a fair amount of warmth. Meanwhile, the daddy owl hunts for the exhausted mother. After a long tiring 28 days, they 1st born chick hatches. When an egg is ready to hatch, the owlet inside chirps quietly. Before long, a compact hole in the egg appears. The owl cracks open the shell with its egg tooth. This falls off shortly. Happy chick happy mother!

Same goes for almost all owls. They mainly breed in the same way. Wink

Except their screech. Its not friendly to us, but its beautiul and warning at the same time. Usually the others have a somewhat pleasant call, or so i've heard.

I don't think they do. Even though they have a special oil or something on their feathers that allows them to shed water, I think the rain does something so that its harder for them to catch prey. Maybe it muffles their hearing or something. *shrugs* Something like that.
